Two decades ago in 1994, Belgium’s Jean-Michel Saive beat Sweden’s Jan-Ove Waldner to emerge as the winner of the Men’s Singles title at the Europe Top 12 staged in Arezzo, Italy.
The result meant that the Belgium star was jettisoned to the top of the Men’s World Rankings; it is an achievement of which he is justly proud.
Now 20 years later in the modern version of the tournament, the DHS 2014 Europe Cup which starts in Lausanne, Switzerland on Friday 7th February, such an elevation to the pinnacle is not going to happen. ....
