The South Korean manufacturer of high level table tennis equipment, Xiom, has renewed its agreement with the International Table Tennis Federation to continue the Xiom Development Incentive Programme?in 2013; the initiative began in 2011.
Currently, the ITTF Development Programme organises approximately 100 courses per year worldwide, focusing on developing countries.
The extensive itinerary includes coach education, training camps, umpire and referee courses, tournament organization courses, marketing courses and women courses.
Approximately 25 per cent of the courses are funded by the International Olympic Committee Olympic Solidarity Programme, in particular technical Courses?and developing a National Sports Structure Courses?
Eight Equipment Packages
In 2013, as in previous years, Xiom will provide eight equipment packages.
Each package will comprise six tables, six nets and post sets, six scorers, 80 rackets, eight gross of balls plus table tennis clothing for the national federati**.
The first eight countries allocated an Olympic Solidarity Technical or a Developing a National Sports Structure Course in 2013 will receive the offer subject to meeting necessary criteria.
Benefits
Unquestionably, the Xiom Development Incentive Programme provides numerous benefits to the national federati** hosting ITTF Development courses.
A course has a far greater impact as the equipment provided can be used to implement new programmes by the motivated participants of the course; also, countries will be motivated to work hard to receive such a course, allowing the International Table Tennis Federation to assist a wider number of countries in any one year.
Furthermore, the ITTF expert who leads the course will be able to supervise the distribution and effective use of the equipment.
Procedure
The procedure is as follows:
1. Countries who have received a Xiom Development Incentive Programme package in 2011 or 2012 are not eligible in 2013.
2. Associati** should c**ult with their National Olympic Committee regarding an Olympic Solidarity technical?or developing a National Sports Structure?course.
3. The package applies only to Olympic Solidarity courses in 2013 whereby the International Table Tennis Federation is informed by Olympic Solidarity on or after this announcement notice appears on the ITTF website.
4. Countries will be eligible for a maximum of one equipment package through any ITTF Development Programme projects in each calendar year.
5. The first eight countries, with a maximum of two per continent, will receive the Xiom package of six tables, six nets and post sets, six scorers, 80 rackets, eight gross of balls plus table tennis clothing. Xiom will provide equipment and shipping. Each country is resp**ible for customs clearance costs and arrangements.
