2012年国际乒联世界巡回赛波兰公开赛于11月11日（星期日）在华沙结束男子单打决赛，王浩战胜队友周雨，获得100万美元奖金，随后会参加12月6日到9日在杭州举办的广汽集团2012世界乒乓球巡回赛总决赛。

在首战失利后，他连赢了4局，确保了胜利。

Victory over colleague Zhou Yu in the final of the Men抯 Singles event at the GAC GROUP 2012 ITTF World Tour Polish Open in Poznan on Sunday 11th November secured China抯 Wang Hao a place in the $1,000,000 GAC GROUP 2012 ITTF World Tour Grand Finals, to be staged in the Chinese city of Hangzhou from Thursday 6th to Sunday 9th December.

After losing the opening game in the final, he won the next four to secure victory.

In the rallies Wang Hao was superior as he directed top spins with unerring accuracy into the backhand of his left handed adversary.

Excels in Rallies
Traditionally, the pen-hold grip attacking player stayed close to table and after serving attacked with ferocity.

Wang Hao is by no means lacking in the art of service, followed by fast attack but it is in the rallies where he excels.

Eighth Appearance
It is his sheer c**istency that wins the days and when that subject is the item in question, it also applies to his efforts at the Grand Finals; he is one of the events most c**istent performers.

He made his debut in the Grand Finals in Stockholm in 2002; since that initiation he has appeared in the prestigious end of year tournament on six further occasi**, Hangzhou will be his eight adventure.

Always a Semi-Finalist
In Stockholm he reached the semi-final stage of the Men抯 Singles event and that is his lowest finish.

On every appearance he has reached the penultimate round or better; in his playing style he is c**istent, it is the same in the Grand Finals.

Four Finals
Furthermore, on four occasi** he has reached the Men抯 Singles final, winning twice and being the runner up twice.

On his second appearance in the tournament, he won in Guangzhou in 2003 and three years later in Hong Kong, he succeeded once again; on the former occasion he beat colleague Hao Shuai in the final, on the latter he defeated Korea抯 Oh Sangeun.

Meanwhile, in 2008 in Macau he was beaten by Ma Long in the final, having one year earlier also suffered at the hands of a colleague when losing to Ma Lin.

The Problem
Now, arguably that is the problem for Wang Hao.

He has played Ma Lin on 23 occasi** in World ranking events, he won eight of those duels and lost 15 of the encounters.

Only Two Wins in Last Four Years
However, more pertinently, in the last four years, he has won only two of the ten encounters against Ma Lin.

In 2008 he beat Ma Lin in six games at the quarter-final stage of the Tournament of Champi** in Changsha but then has had to wait almost four years to win again.

Earlier this year, on their most recent encounter, he accounted for Ma Lin by a similar margin at the semi-final stage of the Men抯 Singles event at the GAC GROUP 2012 ITTF World Tour Korean Open. It is that result from which Wang Hao can take heart; on the international scene it is their most recent encounter.

Only One in Straight Games
The other saving grace for Wang Hao against Ma Lin is that only one of the 15 defeats has been in straight games; in 2004 at the semi-final stage of the Men抯 World Cup, Wang Hao was beaten by Ma Lin in four straight games.

Always Close Against Xu Xin
Close matches have often accrued but if the subject on the agenda is close matches then it is against his colleague Xu Xin, that the closest of contests have been witnessed.

Xu Xin and Wang Hao have met on four occasi** in World ranking events, all four have been decided in the full seven games and honours are even.

Results
The two wins for Xu Xin have come in Qatar; in 2011 he beat Wang Hao in their Men抯 Singles quarter-final duel, in 2012 in the final.

Meanwhile Wang Hao won in 2008 at the semi-final stage of the Men抯 Singles event at the Panasonic China Open and in 2011 one round earlier at the ITTF Pro Tour Grand Finals in London.

An Omen or Not
Is the latter success a good omen for Wang Hao?

They do say history repeats itself; the problem for Wang Hao is that theory may hold good against Xu Xin, not against Ma Lin.
